1. Create a new account at Sprint.com. Pick the username that you want to use. You will not be able to log in to this account right away.
2. Create another account using the same phone # and email address. Use a different username...it doesn't matter what you pick, as this account won't be used.
3. You will receive an error email stating that the phone # has already been registered on another account.
4. Go back to the username you created in Step 1, log in.
5. Click "Activate new phone" and punch in the info.
If you got an error stating that the phone you tried to swap to is activated still, then you need to talk to whoever sold you the phone. It is still linked to someone's account and that needs to be cleared before you can use it.
